I was amazed to read that it was Nigel Lambert doing the voice over on the recent 'Look Around You' School TV spoofs, but should have recognised him - it only feels like a couple of years ago we were making the originals. I found a lovely quote from another ex Thames TV person the other day 'it was the best fun I ever had and got paid for it . . .'. My intention is to start to keep an archive of family photos and documents. I am fascinated by the faces in old photographs - particularly the feeling that you are seeing people as they remember themselves, not in their older versions - and have been thinking about this in a vague way for some time. Last year, John sent me a copy of his transcription of Mum and Dad's 'Danish Diaries' - the journals they kept when cycling in Denmark in the 1930s - which he had found among their papers. I remember the album of annotated photographs they had of that holiday (both of them in plus fours for cycling), and think it would be good to put the two together. Talked to John about this over Christmas and he sent me this story from the Guardian . Of course our project is hardly comparable to this, but you get the idea - so I am going to have a go. Still trying to change the template to link to my children-literature discussion group (note the possessive). I cannot work out what 'un comment out' means and will have to consult my adviser. Thursday, January 9
